opinion WHAT we are witnessing in Ala-Igbo today is the absence of outrage from the people who are supposed to speak out, for the rest of us. Yet to question this lack of vision and leadership of our august body is, always characterized as, at worse," treasonable felony and at best, anti-Igbo cynicism. We are watching what is left of our culture dissipating. Our language is eroding the scale of national lexicon. Our tradition? Let's just say that it is not what it used to be. The mathematics of political calculus in Nigeria and the imbalance do not give Ndigbo confidence for the future. Few things are funnier than a people that always shot themselves in the foot. Sometimes one have to laugh and wonder what is so amusing at the same time. I just hope that the raised issue of Igbo leadership, will somehow re-direct the Igbo thinking for the better. So, let the debate begin .08/08/2003
The object of legislation is not to make law alone, but laws that serve socially useful purposes... IN the best of times, legislatures or parliaments all over the world, whether in the liberal or socialist democracies are popular platforms where the most profound sentiments of the people are expressed and articulated. In a single nutshell, they are the most popular governmental engine rooms where radical social reforms are orchestrated. While the executive arm and judiciary remain the limbs and hands of government, through which laws and other legislative acts are given effect, the legislature is the soul and life blood through which others subsist.08/07/2003

opinion Lagos - He has an imposing physique. Probably a domineering one too. By his professional calling, his huge frame could also be terrifying. If only his present travails could take a human form, there is no doubt he would make mince meat of the unfortunate mortal if a combat is declared. But this is only within the realm of imagination.08/04/2003
