NOT once have I believed President Olusegun Obasanjo's series of denials
of a third term agenda. By the way, you will notice that in the past six
months, he has chosen to stop making comments about it. We are now in the
third of four phases of this highly sophisticated act of political
deception. Sophisticated, but not innovative. We have seen it all before in
this country, enough to spot the move once it is made.

Lagos - The violent clash between the members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the police in Onitsha leading to the burning down of the country home of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe (Zik) is now the subject of a raging controversy. Almost a fortnight after the violation of the home of Nigeria's first president, the police and MASSOB members are still trading blames over who caused the arson. By itself, the act, especially at a period when his countless admirers were getting ready to mark his 101th posthumous birthday anniversary, and to pay tributes to his great achievements is, to say the least, a desecration of what ought to be a national pantheon.
Lagos - The Nasml Lllahi-Il-Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) yesterday advised political and socio-political groups in the country to desist from using its name in their propaganda stunts.
Reacting to a statement by the Director of Information of the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Uchenna Medu in which he alleged that NASFAT and some Islamic scholars of Northern extraction were planning to kill the leader of the ethnic self determination group, Chief Ralph uwazurike, the religious group stated that it knew of no such plan and can never be a party to such a heinous plot.
