opinion LOOKING at the political history of this country so far, it appears that many 'Ndigbo' politicians and leaders are yet to learn from the political maturity and dexterity of their friends, the Yorubas and other sections of our country. A few examples will help us here. The fate and fall of the immediate past MD/CEO of the Nigerian Breweries Plc, and his roles in national politics, when compared with that of several other MD/CEOs of multinationals from Yoruba land, and they are many, leave us with lessons to learn. Compare the handling of the OPC in the South West with that of Bakassi Boys and the MASSOB in the South-East, and you find a key difference. While the OPC will not allow the indiscrimate killing of their youths under any circumstance, we are allowing our own to be used to potray many Ndigbo youth as undesirables and to be shot at sight by the Police. The turnover in the seat of the President of the Senate and other offices zoned to the South-East with those zoned t o the South-West or other zones of the country leaves a lot to be desired in the politics of the South-East.

opinion Lagos - Permit me to begin this article with a salute to courage of our colleagues most of whom are distinguished members of the upper legislative chambers - the Senate and the House of Representatives, for upholding the independence and the general wishes of the Nigerian people. It is heartening that the much - orchestrated bill on constitution amendment failed to see the light of the day. I once again commend the leadership of Chief Ken Nnamani.
