It is a historic moment. A third consecutive elections have been concluded. Umar Yar'Adua, a former university teacher and ASUU member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is the President-elect. His running mate is another educationist, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. Despite the many shortcomings of the general elections and the several yet-to-be-resolved electoral disputes, there is a feeling of much relief among the citizens. In addition to this, there is equally a quiet, yet high expectation and hope and prayer, that the team of Yar'Adua and Jonathan would find solutions to the myriad of problems which confront the nation. Interestingly, the hope is not so much on the PDP but on Yar'Adua as an individual, whose profile seems to suggest to the people that here is a man the people could and should trust.

interview Enugu - One of the candidates in Nigeria 21 April presidential election is Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. He was the head of the separatist state of Biafra between 1967 and 1970. Although he lost the war and Biafra once again become part of southeast Nigeria, Ojukwu has remained popular, particularly amongst the Igbo ethnic group that predominates there, coming third in the 2003 presidential elections.

Lagos - THE continued incarceration of the leader for the Movement for Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike has been condemned by the Falohun/Alafia zonal leader, Hon. Basil Udoagwa and therefore called for his immediate release from detention.
